PRESENTATIONS AND GRAPHICS
Discussion
Because a picture is worth a thousand words, images will often be a part of material we share personally, as a student, and then professionally. Here are some guidelines to help make the most of your presentations.
1 Corinthians 10:31...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Graphics
Avoid images that are in poor taste, that do not serve to build up your audience and direct their thoughts in a godly direction.
Know where to find your images -- do NOT randomly search without a strict filter. Try these sites:
Flickr Creative Commons: http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
Eduscapes: http://eduscapes.com/tap/topic98.htm
Tech4Learning: http://pics.tech4learning.com/
Library of Congress: http://www.loc.gov/pictures/
NASA Image gallery: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/
Photos for Class: http://www.photosforclass.com/
There are many more.
Here is a suggestion if you don't know of good site. Try doing an advanced image powersearch with the specific name of your subject. For example: Images of the California Missions. Use as many qualifiers as you can. Then carefully read the results of your search and try sites with an edu. domain
If you find pictures that can be edited, you can use these free on-line tools to make them even better.

Try to find images from the public domain. What does that mean? Find out here:

If you get permission to use someone's image, don't forget to cite your source and respect the rights of the owner
Tips for Slide Presentation: Be selective in the way you create and present a slide show: Here are some cautions:
- Do NOT let the "animation" take away from your content.
- Make sure there is a strong contrast between the background and the material being presented.
- Less is more. Don't put too much information on a slide. You tell the story. Let the slide summarize, highlight, or illustrate what you are saying. Not take over.
- Do NOT use too many bullets.
- Let an image speak for itself. Let an image set the mood. Take time to find the image that you need to make your point!!!

Create a storyboard FIRST and pencil out a rough draft of what you want to create. Collect the 12 to 15 images. Be sure the images you select are free to use. Keep a list of citations for your pictures on a shared document.
