All 2nd - 6th grade classes are participating in the HOUR OF CODE -- (Dec 9 - 13) http://code.org/ - an opportunity where students are ENCOURAGED to write code for their computers/devices.
We are using the APP: Kodable Pro in the lab --
usually this app is $6.99 but for this week it is .99 cents
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kodable/id577673067?mt=8
If you don't have an ipad -- you might wish to check out another coding program similar to kodable pro called BotLogic -- http://botlogic.us/play
Every single student, in the lab, this week has truly LOVED Kodable Pro and it has been my pleasure to see them working together as they figure out different ways to get the fuzzie from one side of the screen to the other.
Some other apps you might wish to check out are:
Cargobot: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cargo-bot/id519690804?mt=8
Hopscotch: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hopscotch-coding-for-kids/id617098629?mt=8
And in the spring, we will begin coding again with Scratch -- http://scratch.mit.edu/
Miss Wagner
PS: My friend, KarenW, a fellow teacher -- has a website about coding:
